More About Us

Ileys Community Association is a dynamic grassroots community organisation working with the local community in the West Midlands. Ileys was established in 2007 to meet the needs of the growing refugee population in the West Midlands.
The profile of Somali communities in the UK is of high unemployment, poverty and low educational attainment, studies and research carried out all over the UK have identified the Somali community as one of the most disadvantaged communities in Britain. Ileys Community Association was borne out of the collective will of the local Somali community to address these issues and provide tailored services for the community
Our Main objectives are:
• To provide a comprehensive referral service for the community and to assist our service users to access mainstream service provision in housing, health, education and other services
• To support the integration of the Somali community into British society and enhance community cohesion
• To support the educational needs of refugee children
• To empower and support people to influence local service provision and decision making
Since its inception - through sheer hard work and determination Ileys has managed to employ members of staff and recruit several dedicated volunteers.
